Freeze Alarms, Frozen Pipes and Furnace Failures in cold winter climates...

Whether you're a snow-bird, vacationer or simply enjoy the occasional road trip - you need to know that your home or cabin is safe while you're away. You think you have done all you can to protect your winter home. You've installed smoke detectors, burglar alarms, door locks and maybe even have a neighbour to keep an occasional eye on your property from their home. Unfortunately, none of these can alert you when your furnace fails or if the temperature inside your home drops to dangerous levels.

Frozen pipes and flooded homes are a major concern for many Canadian homeowners every winter. Anyone who has left their home vacant in the winter weather has worried about the consequences of a prolonged power failure or furnace failure. If the temperature inside your home drops below a certain level - pipes can freeze and burst. This can cause severe water and structural damage, loss of personal belongings and bring with it a very costly repair bill.

A leaking pipe can be especially vulnerable - even more likely to burst under stress conditions - especially freezing temperatures. It can save you a lot of money and property damage to detect a leaky pipe before it splits. Once your pipes have become frozen and begin to burst you have no other choice but to turn the water off, call a plumber and your insurance company. Mold and mildew can begin to grow in the insulation and drywall within hours. Keeping your home above the freezing mark at all times is a crucial preventive action against frozen pipes and structural damage. Fortunately - there are several products on the market today to help alleviate this concern. Peace of mind is priceless - but you won't be spending a fortune to have it in this situation. Model 400 Cottage Sitter, Freeze Alarms and Temperature Guard products can monitor and warn you if the temperature becomes dangerously low, your furnace fails, warm up your property with a simple phone call from you and with a few simple add-ons detect water leaks, intrusions ect. - all for less than you'd expect... see below to compare models from major manufacturers and find which model is the right one for your peace of mind.
